CHOCTAWHATCHEE HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1969

Carl Harsch

So much has happened since we all walked the hallowed halls of Choctaw, but I still look back and smile at many of the memories of those years.  I'm currently living in Fargo, ND with my wife, 2 bulldogs, and cat.

After graduating, I gave a half-hearted attempt at higher education at OWJC.  After two undistinguished semesters, I decided that my time would best be served in a capacity other than drunken parties and mindless wandering.  So, off  to sea I went onboard nuclear submarines (it sounded SO much better than the rice patties of Viet Nam).   I don't know exactly why or how it happened, but it took me 20 years to give up that way of life.  During that 20 years, I was able to visit many domestic and international ports.  Among my overseas visits, I can include Scotland, Spain, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Korea as major visits.  Domestically, I visited up and down both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts and spent 2 years living in Hawaii.  I enjoyed my career onboard submarines, but all good things must come to an end and I retired in December 1990.  Post retirement, I completed my bachelor's degree from the College of Charleston (Business/Finance) and worked as an investment advisor. Currently, I am enjoying a semi-retired mode of life, playing golf and doing some part-time retail work.

I have two wonderful children and two grandchildren.  My daughter and her son and daughter live outside of Charleston, SC and my son is serving in the Coast Guard in Virginia.  The east coast is a healthy trip from Fargo and I don't get to see them nearly as much as I would like to see them.  My parents still live in Fort  Walton and I visit them annually.  If any of you are still in the Fort Walton area, drop me an e-mail -- I would love to have lunch with any of you and catch up.

I do have personal home pages available for those interested. http://never3putt.tripod.com/ and http://www.geocities.com/carlharsch/
