CHOCTAWHATCHEE HIGH SCHOOL CLASS OF 1969 - Gallery

Charlie Bracken

I was so proud to be a Choctaw Indian, but I quickly found out that meant almost nothing to everyone else, except the coaches at Auburn, who admonished me to greater performance. It was wonderful to hear that from someone, that they would use the Choctaw name that way. I have kept that spirit even till now. I could always have done better, though. After graduating, all my friends went off to college and I wondered why, and have never found out, in my feelings, anyway, even though I did the university diploma thing. Different thinking, I suppose. I just wanted to enjoy life, and went wherever I thought I could get that, wherever, except for certain particular moral, ethical and legal limits. I did pick and choose, however. That's the thinking that led me to Hawaii. I wanted enjoyment of the barefoot lifestyle that only this climate can bring. EVERY DAY--ALL DAY Once here, I quickly realized that money was more important than it was elsewhere. Owning things is more expensive due to the shipping, literally, ha ha. So that concerned me more and more. Now I can happily say that finding out about business ownership has made it more possible to live a better worldly life. And more happily I can say that finding out that the life I'll have with Jesus Christ simply because I believe in Him will bless me beyond all that anyone can ever imagine. Go Big Green!!.
